Rio Rico, AZ - RRHS student Lee Lerma was recently recognized by PenPalsSchools in their international newsletter.
PenPalSchools is a program that allows students from all over the world to collaborate through online projects.
Lee was introduced to the platform by RRHS English teacher Sabine Bachner. She uses it as an interactive platform in her classroom for students to explore and learn about different topics.
“In Lee's case we learned about "Poetry Around the World''. Students were asked to share poems and short poem analysis with other pen pals from around the world. We had students from Jordan, Canada, and different states of the US who were in the lessons at the same time as us,” said Bachner.
Lee submitted a reflection as part of his project which was chosen by the pen pal team to publish in their “PenPal Pulse” weekly newsletter that showcases students' answers.
On average, there are 4000 to 5000 students active on the platform at any given time.
“He is a very hard worker and a very responsible and self motivated student. He certainly deserves the recognition,” said Bachner.
Congratulations Lee!
