Rio Rico High School’s Hawk Theatre Company

“Welcome Back Class of 1959!”
The Hawk Theatre Company proudly presents “Grease”, a blast-from-the-past-musical centered around the adventurous lives of Danny Zuko and Sandy Dumbrowski. This rowdy, revving performance is coming to you on March 24th - 26th, 2022.
This playful musical is guaranteed to have you dancing in your seats. With many songs, such as “Summer Nights”, “Greased Lightning”, and “Hopelessly Devoted to You” the play carries a strong, loveable 50’s charm.
The performance follows Danny Zuko, the slick greaser, and Sandy Dumbrowski, the new girl, as they try to relive their summer romance in their final year of high school. Danny's the leader of the T-Birds, a group of black leather, jacket-wearing greasers- while Sandy hangs out with the Pink Ladies, a group of pink-wearing, gossipy girls.
When they clash at Rydell's first pep rally, Danny isn't the same as when they first met. Will these lovers ever put aside their differences and be able to love each other?
Director Carrasco remarks, “Grease is a classic that transcends time and languages. No matter how old you are or where you come from, you remember the love story between Sandy and Danny along with the lives of their loyal friends- including Kenickie, Rizzo, and Frenchy. It is an accurate depiction of what high school is like; trying to fit in, falling in love, the realization of growing up, and figuring out who you are and what your future holds. We may see ourselves in some of these characters, if not all, and hold that close connection to them. So let’s rock n’ roll and hand jive with the cast and characters of Grease the Musical!”
The Hawk Theatre Company is the Theatre Department at RRHS, and our ensemble is composed of our many talented students that oversee the complete theater process, from concept to performance. We pride ourselves on our student’s hard work and push them to become brilliant thespians and creative young adults. We hope you can make it and experience their hard work.
