 2021 Summer Programming

It's that time of the year again! The Rio Rico High School theatre program is now taking applications for its summer middle school programming. Last summer we offered a full three weeks of classes, workshops, and of course the first ever district middle school production Disney's “My Son Pinocchio Jr.” and with all the excitement and success we decided to return for three more weeks of activities and classes such vocal, dance, acting, light/sound, costumes/hair/makeup, set building/props/painting, and a new lineup of different activities!

Our camp staff is made of dedicated theatre students at the high school, most of which belong to the Thespian Honor Society and amazing program alumni coming back to their hometown to share their skills.

This year our middle schoolers will be working on the show “Annie Jr.” With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone's hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. Annie is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. Annie eventually foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations, finding a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.

If your interested in joining us this summer, then know follow the directions below!

Step 1: Complete the Registration Form

The registration form gives us information on our students such how to contact them, what kind of classes they would like to take, and so on. It also allows the guardian/parent to see information about the pricing and health information to ensure our students are taken care of and safe.

Step 2: Confirmation

After we receive your registration we will then contact you either by email, mail or phone call within two weeks before the start of camp. Of course, you are always free to contact Mr. Ellison anytime to ensure the registration went through!

Step 3: The Excitement!

About a week before camp starts our students counselors will begin reaching out to parents/guardians and students to answer any questions they may have about what is to come, where to meet, what to wear, etc. We also try our very best to send out a few letters in the mail and/or “the e-mail” that list out things to wear and such a week before time to help prepare.

Step 4: Show-up

The last step and one of the most fun, just showing up! When May 31st finally arrives, then just come on to the high school and watch for our team to help guide your student to the classroom. Parents/Guardians are more than welcome to come and say hello as well! Everyone will pick up their schedules in the main theatre classroom and have a quick meet and greet before we get started and running off to our classes.
