Rio Rico High School serves students from the elementary and middle schools in the Santa Cruz Valley Unified School District. Spanish for “Rich River,” the community of Rio Rico sits nestled in the foothills of Cayetano Mountain. It is a beautiful place for children to grow and learn!
The Arizona Education Foundation announced that Rio Rico High School is one of 39 exemplary Arizona schools receiving its A+ School of Excellence™ designation for the 2016-2017 academic year.
Applicant schools are evaluated in the areas of student focus and support, school culture, active teaching and learning, curriculum, leadership, community and parent involvement, and assessment data.
“Our success is due to our dedicated teachers and staff who work tirelessly to make this a great school, and to our students who truly care about their school,” said Rio Rico High School Principal Shelly Vroegh. “Together we’ve earned this remarkable A+ distinction for our community.”
With this award, Rio Rico High School now becomes the fourth of five Santa Cruz Valley Unified School District No. 35 schools holding this title, joining San Cayetano Elementary, Coatimundi Middle, and Calabasas Schools.
Our school site council meets to discuss and make decisions on important Rio Rico High School issues. All meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. and are held in the Rio Rico choir room. We invite all families and staff to participate and have their voices be heard. Help us help your children!
